HAMMOND, LA (August 24, 2017) TARC of Hammond is hosting its long-running Penny Power fundraiser October 23rd- November 10th, 2017. We are very excited to announce that after cancelling our fundraiser last year due to the floods we are back and ready to raise much needed funds for individuals with disabilities in our community and their families. With the help of local schools throughout Tangipahoa we are able to raise over $30,000.00 each year through students simply bringing their coins to school!
“TARC is very excited to be back after the 2016 Flood”, said TARC CEO Kathleen Abels. "Penny Power is a huge fundraiser for our agency and the funds we raise allow TARC to provide opportunities to children and adults with disabilities. At TARC, our goal is for all of our clients to discover their full potential and become self-directed contributing citizens.”
This three-week event takes place within the school system. Students are encouraged to bring in their coins, dollars and even checks during their designated week. Each classroom that raises at least $75 earns a pizza party from CiCi’s Pizza. TARC also awards the school that raises the most funds with the traveling Penny Power Trophy! Loranger Elementary has been the top school for the last 16 years!
If your school, organization, or business would like to participate in Penny Power please call the TARC office at 345.8811 or visit www.tarc-hammond.com and clicking the DONATE NOW button on the bottom of the page.
Thank you to the St. Thomas Aquinas Seniors that helped us prepare for Penny Power 2017!
